Join BikePGH and the City of Pittsburgh on October 17, 2025
BikePGH and the City of Pittsburgh are co-hosting the City’s first-ever Vision Zero Summit. Join us on October 17 for a day of discussions, speakers and breakout sessions highlighting the local and regional efforts to achieve zero traffic deaths on our roadways.
Traffic fatalities across the country have been on the rise, with pedestrians, cyclists, and other vulnerable road users making up a higher percentage of victims than ever before. Vision Zero is a holistic approach to eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries.
In March of 2024, Mayor Gainey committed to Vision Zero, providing the framework and goal to make the necessary changes in both Pittsburgh’s built environment and city processes. Additionally, Allegheny County and SPC are working on a Vision Zero Action Plan for the county. But, there’s still plenty of work to do to achieve zero traffic deaths on our streets.
Learn + Share + Collaborate
The summit will provide a forum for participants to learn about the principles of Vision Zero, share what progress has been made at their companies and departments related to specific policies, plans and projects. It will also provide opportunities for networking with the hope of kickstarting a greater level of collaboration across sectors to save lives on our streets and roadways.
What to Expect
The full event will be held at the University Club on the University of Pittsburgh campus and include a light breakfast and a lunch. Attendees can expect three plenary and two breakout sessions.
We’re building a great slate of presenters from renowned transportation experts as varied as Claudia Adriazola-Steil, Geoff Webster and PennDOT District 11 Executive Jason Zang, to elected leaders such as Mayor Gainey, Senator Williams, Representative Powell and Councilperson Warwick.
Additionally, professionals in the field will host breakout sessions covering topics such as: the State of Vision Zero, Automated Enforcement, the PennSTART facility, Fatal Crash Response, and working with the community to get things done, among others.
Continuing Education Credits: For those who are looking for continuing education credits, the conference will provide Professional Development Hours (PDH), from the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) – Pittsburgh chapter.
