Photos + recap: OpenStreetsPGH – June 28, 2026 in Downtown + South Side

2 miles of car-free streets came alive as thousands biked, walked, and rolled through the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh to the South Side

On Sunday, June 28, 2026 thousands of Pittsburghers took to the streets for a vibrant, car-free celebration stretching from Downtown to the South Side. OpenStreetsPGH once again showed what our city can be when streets are designed for people.

Participants explored a 2-mile route that began in of Downtown through the newly renovated Market Square before heading up Forbes Avenue, through the Armstrong Tunnel, and across the 10th Street Bridge. The journey continued onto E. Carson Street, where the South Side’s historic architecture and local businesses created a lively and welcoming destination.

Along the route, people of all ages and abilities walked, biked, skated, and rolled their way through the city, stopping for free fitness classes, hands-on activities, and local food and vendor offerings. Activity Hubs brought extra energy to the day, from the Duquesne Light Company Community Wellness Hub in Market Square to the Edgar Snyder Kids Hub in the South Side, where young riders built confidence on BikePGH’s Learn to Ride course.

Hosted by BikePGH and presented by UPMC Health Plan, OpenStreetsPGH continues to be one of Pittsburgh’s most beloved traditions as we transform miles of streets into spaces for connection, movement, and neighborhood discovery.

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible: our activity partners, sponsors, volunteers, production team, BikePGH staff, and our incredible public safety officials who helped keep the route safe and welcoming for all. And of course, thank you to everyone who came out to experience the magic of open streets.
