That’s a wrap on our 2026 OpenStreetsPGH Season! – July 26, 2026 – Strip District + Lawrenceville – Recap and Photos

Thank you to everyone who made our 3+ car-free route one of the most memorable as thousands biked, walked, and celebrated community connections

What a way to close out the 2026 OpenStreetsPGH season! Every OpenStreetsPGH give you a glimpse of what’s possible when we prioritize people over cars, and this year’s finale was one of our most memorable yet.

On Sunday, July 26, thousands of Pittsburghers came together to bike, walk, roll, run, skate, dance, and explore more than three miles of car-free streets through the Strip District and Lawrenceville. Presented by UPMC Health Plan and hosted by BikePGH, our second and final OpenStreetsPGH of the year transformed some of Pittsburgh’s busiest streets into vibrant public spaces where community took center stage.

People of all ages and abilities experienced the city, families rode together, neighbors connected, kids gained confidence on bikes, local businesses welcomed thousands of visitors, and the streets became places for movement, joy, and belonging.

Throughout the route, participants found so many ways to get moving, try something new, and connect with neighbors. The day featured:

  • Free fitness classes and wellness activities
  • Interactive activities hosted by community organizations
  • Family-friendly programming throughout the route
  • Local vendors, restaurants, and shopping
  • The Strip District Terminal Community Wellness Hub featuring fitness classes hosted by the YMCA and interactive activities from local partners
  • The Duquesne Light Company Kids Hub, offering a Learn to Ride course from BikePGH’s Education Team, and family-friendly activities

Hosted by BikePGH and presented by UPMC Health Plan, OpenStreetsPGH continues to be one of Pittsburgh’s most beloved traditions as we transform miles of streets into spaces for connection, movement, and neighborhood discovery.

Thank YOU!

Everyone who walked, biked, rolled, ran, skated, danced, volunteered, partnered, performed, and simply showed up, we truly thank you for being a part of this magical event.

OpenStreetsPGH doesn’t happen on its own. Behind every mile of car-free streets is months of planning and an incredible team working to make the event safe, welcoming, and free for everyone. At BikePGH, we’re proud to produce OpenStreetsPGH because we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience Pittsburgh’s streets as places for people.

We’re incredibly grateful to our presenting sponsor, UPMC Health Plan, along with our generous sponsors, as well as the City of Pittsburgh, neighborhood organizations, local businesses, vendors, performers, volunteers, public safety officials, and every partner who helped bring our streets to life. Your support makes OpenStreetsPGH possible.

Most importantly, thank you to the thousands of Pittsburghers who came out to reclaim our streets for community connection, movement, play, and celebration.
