This much-loved BikePGH event attracted hundreds of bike riders again this year
On Thursday, May 14th, hundreds of Pittsburghers took to the streets for Bike to Work Day… even despite some overcast skies and a trickle of rain (because, yes, we bike in all weather).
In the morning at Arts Landing in Downtown Pittsburgh, riders grabbed free De Fer coffee, Cinnaholic cinnamon buns, and fruit from East End Food Co-op before heading into their day. We are also incredibly grateful to the Cultural Trust for hosting our pop up in this brand new space, and it was so easy to get their via the Penn Ave bike lane. If you haven’t checked out Arts Landing yet, you should!
We also led a group ride with Mayor O’Connor and city officials, rolling from the City County Building, to the Point, and to Arts Landing, adding even more visibility to the growing movement in favor of safer, more accessible streets and active transportation.
The evening then led to the Strip District, where cyclists gathered at Helltown Brewing for snacks, happy hour hangs, and a well-earned toast to the joys of biking, thanks to support from Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, Dashcam for Your Bike, and Kevin Gieder Consulting.
It was great to see so many of you stopping by the Commuter Cafés to refuel and connect with bike riders from across the city. In just one day, you helped us raise over $2,000 for safer streets and better biking and walking infrastructure… thank you! We still need to raise $15,000 before the end of the month, and every dollar counts.

The proof is in the numbers
Pittsburgh continues to build real momentum around biking. The city ranks among the top 15 U.S. cities for bike commuting, with 42% of workers getting to work without a car. During past Bike to Work Days, bike riders have made up nearly a quarter of peak morning traffic on Penn Ave Downtown, and this year was no different, with hundreds turning out to ride.
And thanks to Bike Share Pittsburgh’s POGOH fleet, even more people joined in with free 30-minute trips all day long.

Did you grab merch? Supplies are LIMITED
Bike to Work Day 2026 also marked our first-ever secret merch drop— and yes, it lived up to the hype.
With no previews or reveals, riders had to show up in person to snag these limited-edition designs. Miss your chance? We’ve just added the final few items to our web store, but they’re gonna go fast! Shoutout to local artist Darrin Milliner (@social.living) for designing the new t-shirt.
Thank you to everyone who chose to share their commute to (or from) work with us! We are also very thankful for our Bike to Work Day sponsors and partners, whose support made this event possible:
