From public transit to bikes, it’s not only possible but eco-friendly to get around the city with ease. We’ll share with you all of the knowledge we’ve collected over the years to ensure your success and safety on the roads without a car. If you’ve ever wondered how to plan a safe (and fun) route to get groceries or put your bike on a PAT bus, we’ve got you covered with that and more!


Fix a Flat with Izzy Johnson

Don’t get stranded when your tire goes flat! Learn the skills you need to repair it with our WMNBikePGH Fix a Flat workshop, led by Cannondale Ambassador Izzy Johnson. You’ll learn how to remove your wheel, dismount the tire and tube, inspect the tire for damage, and install a new tube. We’ll also discuss preventative measures you can take to minimize your chances of getting a flat (hint: it pays to be prepared).


Confident & Comfortable Cycling

It’s tough to hop on your bike when you don’t feel comfortable on two wheels. Join us for a virtual workshop where we’ll address barriers to confident cycling – everything from bike fit, to maneuvering traffic, and feeling in control of your bike. We’ll give you the tools to help mitigate those pesky bicycling pains and boost your confidence so you can enjoy your next ride!


How to Bike the GAP

Ready to bike from PGH to DC, but not sure where to start? We’ve got you! In this workshop, Dirty Jones of Golden Triangle Bikes covers the basics of the GAP trail, including trip planning, so you can plan and execute the ride that fits you best. We also dive into best practices for packing, nutrition & hydration, and weather to help you maximize your fun!


Spring Tune Up

The first thing we want to do when the weather warms up is to dust off our bikes and take them out for a spin! But no one wants their ride to be cut short by a mechanical issue. Follow along with Katie Blackburn of Free Ride as they showcase a DIY tune up at home. They go over everything from brakes to tires and shifting so you can ensure that your bike is ready to ride.


Biking in All Seasons

Winter cycling can feel a little intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! Kat Gregor explains how to prepare for the elements and enjoy bicycling year-round. You’ll learn about winter-friendly clothing and bike gear, how to plan the best route for you (it might be multi-modal), and tips for taking care of yourself and your bike so you can can enjoy your ride regardless of the weather!
