Registration is open for the 2024 Women & Non-Binary Summit – Join us on Saturday, October 19th, 2024!

Our annual Women & Non-Binary Bike Summit is an engaging, one-day event featuring presentations, on-bike workshops, and activities focused on boosting skills and encouraging women and non-binary representation in cycling.

Our goal is to empower trans and cis women, non-binary, genderqueer, agender and gender variant people of all ages and abilities to feel comfortable and confident riding bikes around the city. Together, we can learn from and uplift each other to build a more connected and inclusive cycling community..

The day is full of programming that accommodates everyone, no matter where in your cycling journey you may be.

Meet this year’s keynote speaker, Josie Fouts

Josie Fouts is an Asian-American amputee who uses cycling as a method for self discovery and empowerment. At her first paracycling event, she gained 2x National Championship, and set a National record! Since then, she has been trailblazing for ability inclusion in the cycling industry especially along trails in nature where life takes on multiple imperfect forms and adapts in unique ways. Physically overcoming rocks and obstacles trains her mentally to be resilient down the unknown road of advocacy to get Mountain Paracycling to become a Paralympic sport. Along the way, she is continuously spreading awareness through her self-directed film Tread Setters, and innovating her adaptive mountain bike including renovating prosthetics to single-handedly save the world with Mountain Paracycling!

For the 2024 WMNBikePGH Summit, everything except the group ride will take place at Hosanna House instead of traveling off-site for sessions. We’ll have a light breakfast, enjoy the presentation and Q&A from keynote speaker Josie Fouts, have a reflective community conversation, and have lunch. Then, in the afternoon, you’ll sign up for a session of your choice and we’ll go on a celebratory group bike ride to close out the day!

More about this program

BikePGH’s Women and Non-Binary Program is inclusive of trans and cis women, intersex people, non-binary, genderqueer, agender and gender variant folks, as well as those whose gender identity falls outside of the dominant conceptions of gender. The program encourages conversation and provides spaces to come together over biking, advocacy and related topics while increasing representation of people who have historically marginalized gender identities.
We aim to create a safe space where people can speak and move freely expressing themselves authentically without added fear of microaggressions and discrimination due to gender and expression.

By opening the discussion about our lived experiences and challenges, we can assess how to better provide support and resources to ride bikes and increase mobility in Pittsburgh.

Be sure to join our WMNBikePGH Facebook Group and subscribe to our quarterly Women & Non-Binary Program eNewsletter to stay in the loop on all events.

This event is made possible with generous support from Dollar Bank.
